For anti aging skin products it isn’t necessarily true that the more expensive the more effective. Over the counter lotions and creams all contain about the same concentration of the active ingredient consequently paying more will not make a lot of difference to the resulting effect.
What Does Work?
Anti aging skin treatments containing retinol, available over the counter, or tretinoin available only on prescription, have been proven clinically to be effective on wrinkles. Retinol is less effective than tretinoin used for long enough is able to diminish fine lines and wrinkles significantly. Retinol products are the most popular anti aging products available.
Coenzyme Q10 has been proved to have an effect on the fine lines around the eyes. It can also shields the skin from damage by the sun.

A Word of Caution
Anti aging skin products containing tretinoin or retinol increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun so you should preferably use them in the evening or before bed. If you do use them in the daytime, it is important to always use a high factor sun screen as well.
Side Effects of Tretinoin or Retinol
Side effects are normally very mild but you might notice some irritation or redness when you first use these treatments. This is normal and should go in a day or two. If it does continue for longer than this stop using the product.
