<p>Female guppies give birth to as many as sixty fry depending on how old  and big she is. Females also have the ability to store sperm so one  insemination can give rise to multiple batches of fry. Thirty days after  her first insemination a female will give birth. Feeding the female  correctly before and after insemination is essential for success and we  recommend adding live food to her diet at this time. Some suitable live  foods are dapnia, bloodworms and brine shrimp. This will ensure she is  in top condition during her pregnancy.</p>
<p>Before the tiny fry appear  you will need to consider how you are going to protect them from being  eaten by both the mother and the other fish in the tank. Ideally a  separate tank should be provided but you could also purchase a breeding  compartment to place in the tank which will keep the fry safe. If you  cant do this at least provide plenty of floating plants for the fry to  escape the attentions of hungry adult fish.</p>
<p>The fry can be fed on  crushed up flakes supplemented with some live food such as brine  shrimp. They will grow to adult size in about two months. During this  time keep the water conditions in the tank in good condition with weekly  partial water changes.</p>
